Summary

Would you like to embark on a positive impactful experience? We are looking for volunteer Mentors in Perth & Kinross to support young people age 16-25.

Detailed description

Our Mentors are matched with a young person age 16-25 who is homeless or at risk of homelessness. We ask each Mentor to commit to meeting up with a young person for around 2 hours a week for up to 12 months.

As a Mentor for the Rock Trust you would work alongside your Mentee supporting and encouraging them to achieve a goal they set themselves, in an enjoyable way.

We know that having a Mentor can help a young person to:

  • Increase their opportunities to move into volunteering, education, training or employment.
  • Have greater social confidence and positive relationships.
  • Explore what is available to do in their local community, reducing social exclusion and increasing physical and mental health.

Our volunteers benefit from:

  • Training and continual learning opportunities.
  • Regular support and supervision meetings with their line manager.
  • Volunteer expenses covered by the Rock Trust
  • A chance to develop their own skills and experience.

"I love watching and hearing about a mentor and mentee getting to know each other and developing a genuine partnership where they can work towards the mentee’s goals in a socially enjoyable way. The young person knows they have chosen their mentor, and their mentor is choosing to spend time with them. The best thing about a good match is when both parties benefit and improve their wellbeing."
