The Hairy Highland Coo Trail is coming to Perth & Kinross, 28/ June - 6 September 2024, raising vital funds for Children's Hospices Across Scotland. Each of our coos has been transformed into a unique masterpiece by a talented artist and enjoys its own special spot along the trail.
We're looking for reliable volunteers, aged 18+, to join our Coo Crew, making weekly local checks on your allocated member/s of our udderly amazing herd of life-size sculptures to make sure they always look their best for their visitors. You'll be provided with a special cleaning kit, a Coo Crew t-shirt and we'll make sure you are fully trained on all aspects of Coo cleaning.
What activities will I be involved in?
- Rolling your sleeves up, cleaning any dirt or debris from each of your coos
- Sending a quick pic of your coo to the coo trail inbox after each week's clean
- Reporting any damage you find
- Chatting about the Coo Trail and CHAS to any visitors and meet (full training will be provided)
- You will also get the chance later to join the volunteer teams at our farewell weekend (21-22 September)) and/or the closing auction of coos (Thurs 26th September), all taking place at Scone Palace.
What skills and abilities will I need to have?
- Access to transport to and from your Coo site/s
- Access to a smartphone with good mobile coverage
- An eye for detail
- Reliability and commitment to your role
- Friendly and outgoing personality
How much time should I offer?
This is a weekly commitment which will take around 15 minutes to spruce each coo up. You may need to give a little more time if there is damage to report.
What ongoing learning/support/guidance will I receive?
It's important to us that you feel happy, safe and confident in your role. Your Volunteer Manager will take you through a short induction so you have a clear understanding of your role and responsibilities; you will also learn more about the Hairy Highland Coo Trail and CHAS so you can talk confidently to visitors to the Hub.

We will pay your out of pocket expenses in line with the CHAS volunteer expenses policy.
